Capital: Managua.
Location: Nicaragua borders north with Honduras, South with Costa Rica, East with the Caribbean Sea and West with the Pacific Ocean.
Population: Approximately 5.3 millones de inhabitants.
Extension: 130,668 km². It is the country with most territorial extension in Central America.
Sea level: 9,240 km² of the territory is covered by lakes and lagoons, those of which the Lake of Nicaragua occupies about 8,000 km², and the Lake of Managua, of about 1,000 km². Generally the lagoons are craters and are located in volcanoes which have been inactive for thousands of years.
Languages Spoken: Spanish. In the Atlantic coast English, Miskito and other native tongues.
Climate: The zones comprised between the lakes and the Pacific is dry and has low precipitations. The temperatures waver between 27º and 32º C in the rainy and winter seasons, comprised between May and October: And between 30º; and 35º C in the dry and summer season, which is from November till April. Towards the center and north of the country, the height caused by the elevation of the mountains enable it to enjoy a fresher climate that becomes more humid towards the east. From the center of the country to the Caribbean there predominates a hot climate of a humid tropical jungle, where there occurs a frequent precipitation.
