Important facts

Wardrobe: Nicaragua is a country with a hot tropical climate. You should include clothing that is light and fresh. If you visit the North zone (Matagalpa, Estelí, Ocotal , etc) or have planned to climb to the top of some of the volcanoes we have, it is convenient to use clothing that are warm. When visiting the forest of Nebliselva like the Mombacho Volcano or Maderas, or moist zones like the Río San Juan, you should use clothing and shoes that are waterproof.

What you shouldn’t forget: A camera, suntan lotion, bathing suit, a hat and insect repellent to avoid mosquito bites, common of the tropical climates.

Electricity: 110 Volts, 60 watts.

Driving permits: Visitors can use the driving license from their country of origin for 30 days, starting from the day they entered Nicaragua.

Telephone Code: Dial the international access number in your country, than 505 and finally the 7 digit telephone number.

Work hours: Some governmental offices are open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 pm and 1:30 p.m. -5:00 p.m. this incluyes private companies and banks. However, some private companies and banks do work Saturday till 12.
